Kane Communications Group Announces Addition of Brand Journalism to Firm's Services

Storytelling, content development to drive practice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MILWAUKEE – (JAN. 27, 2020) – Kane Communications Group, a full-service public relations and integrated marketing firm located in downtown Milwaukee, announces the launch of its brand journalism practice. Brand journalism takes stories beyond press releases to create a compelling journalism-style narrative with real news value. Kane’s team brings nearly 60 years of combined award-winning journalism experience across multiple disciplines including print, broadcast and digital to this new practice.

“As newsrooms continue to shrink, brand journalism offers an outlet for our clients to tell stories their own way without the constraints of the news cycle,” said James Burnett, director of strategic public relations for Kane Communications Group. “Applying journalism techniques to an online newsroom creates better stories that can be delivered across multiple channels that will help build and protect reputations and deliver strong business results.”

With brand journalism, Kane’s team will create online newsrooms for clients, and cover everything from business developments to community engagement in a credible, high-profile journalistic style. Content creation will range from story development, writing and video production to social media, research-based case studies, white papers and thought-leadership content. The content will be produced to be shared across multiple channels. Kane’s team of former journalists with newsroom experience will help clients tell compelling stories to drive business results.

“This is an exciting step and a differentiator for our firm,” said Kimberly Kane, president and CEO of Kane Communications Group. “The demand for content is only going to grow as more people engage with organizations online and with social media. With a number of former  journalists on our team, this new practice leverages our unique skills and connections, and allows us to add exponential value to our clients as we tell their stories in meaningful ways.”

Sydney Hofer has been promoted to the position of Brand Journalism Senior Advisor to lead the new practice for Kane. Hofer joined Kane in January 2018, with more than 10 years of public relations experience in the retail and nonprofit sectors. Her roots are in journalism, having had a successful career as a television news producer at stations in Milwaukee and Iowa. In this new role, Hofer will lead storytelling efforts for Kane and help clients build online newsrooms and develop content.

Kane previously announced plans to expand its footprint in the Two-Fifty building to meet the needs of its growing team. The expansion, which includes a studio for producing original audio and video content, will be complete in the coming months.
